To bridge the gap between academic theory and practical application, enhance students' overall skills, and support the development of top-tier innovative talent, the School of Economics and Management organized a practical lecture for the 2022 cohort of students. The lecture was part of the course "Business Data Analysis" and took place from April 8th to 9th, 2024. Dr. ZHUANG Xiaotian, Senior Director of the Artificial Intelligence and Big Data Department at JD Logistics, along with his team, was invited to present a session on "The Panorama and Prospect of Digital and Intelligent Supply Chain Construction."

Dr. ZHUANG began his lecture with an exploration of "The Journey of a JD Order," tracing the process from order placement to final delivery. Using this framework, he introduced key components of JD's supply chain logistics: "Demand Forecasting and Inventory - Intelligent Warehousing - Intelligent Sorting - Intelligent Transportation Scheduling - Intelligent Risk Control." This approach allowed students to gain a more comprehensive and systematic understanding of JD’s digital and intelligent supply chain. Dr. ZHUANG’s insights helped students appreciate the complexity of JD’s operations while laying the foundation for further study in data analysis models.
Following Dr. ZHUANG's introduction, his team provided an in-depth look at the challenges and modeling techniques associated with each segment of the supply chain. They offered a holistic overview of the digital and intelligent supply chain landscape, which served as valuable guidance for students as they continued their exploration of data analysis methodologies.
During the interactive Q&A session, students engaged in discussions on a variety of topics, including JD’s logistics operations for both self-operated and third-party businesses, as well as strategies for risk control in review manipulation. Many students noted that, while they had previously viewed JD merely as customers, this lecture gave them a deeper understanding of the company from an operational and platform perspective. The session not only enriched their learning experience but also helped them better define their future academic and career goals.
Looking ahead, JD's relevant departments plan to continue collaborating closely with the School of Economics and Management, further integrating industry insights into the curriculum to support the development of highly skilled, innovative professionals.
