School of Economics and Management Holds Special Training Session for Newly Promoted Doctoral Supervisors

To help newly promoted doctoral supervisors clarify responsibilities and improve graduate supervision capacity, the Graduate Tutor Development Center of the School of Economics and Management held a training session in Conference Room 429, Building 31 on April 28, 2026. Professor LI Bozhou; Professor CHEN Heng, Dean of the School of Economics and Management; newly promoted doctoral supervisors, pre-appointed supervisors, and relevant staff attended. The meeting was presided over by LIU Tiansen, Vice Dean of the School of Economics and Management.

Professor LI Bozhou shared experience on academic development, doctoral training processes, and academic integrity. He emphasized that doctoral supervisors should adhere to scientific research enthusiasm, deeply cultivate fixed research directions, accumulate academic skills relying on scientific research projects, and persist in diligent study, in-depth cultivation and academic mutual learning. In terms of student training, it is necessary to balance the temperature of education and boundary principles, improve regular guidance mechanisms such as regular group meetings and academic seminars, strictly control key links of training, and inherit the fine tradition of “passing on experience, helping and guiding”. At the same time, Professor LI Bozhou carried out warning education combined with typical cases, requiring all doctoral supervisors to strictly abide by academic bottom lines, adhere to zero tolerance for academic misconduct, and build a solid ideological defense line for scientific research integrity.

Vice Dean of School LIU Tiansen introduced the relevant work requirements of the university from aspects such as doctoral training related policies, key issues in the doctoral training process, interpretation of doctoral graduation standards, and analysis of academic integrity cases. He pointed out that it is necessary to strictly and continuously promote the doctoral group meeting system, provide academic support to doctoral students, actively promote students to participate in international academic exchanges, and avoid the risks of publishing in predatory and open-access journals.

Dean of School CHEN Heng emphasized t hat being a doctoral supervisor is not only an academic honor, but also an important education responsibility. All newly promoted doctoral supervisors should establish a sense of academic community and jointly safeguard the academic reputation of the university and the School. He encouraged the newly promoted doctoral supervisors to deeply cultivate their academic roots, run through the whole training process, build a systematic academic research system, uphold a long-term academic vision, adhere to the original aspiration of fostering virtue through education, improve their academic accomplishments in the process of teaching and learning, and cultivate high-quality top-notch innovative talents for the industry and society.

The training had practical content and strong guidance. It not only inherited the School’s mature doctoral training experience, but also accurately targeted the new requirements and new directions for doctoral supervisors to perform their duties in the new era, laying a solid foundation for newly promoted doctoral supervisors to standardize training processes and improve guidance capabilities. The participating supervisors unanimously stated that they will carefully digest and absorb the training content, adhere to their academic original intention, concentrate on fostering virtue through education, and help the School’s discipline construction reach a new level and high-level talent training achieve new results with excellent academic and education capabilities.
