The Belt and Road" Sustainable Development Forum and International Academic Seminar on Carbon Neutrality Modeling Successfully Held

From May 17th to 20th, 2024, the "Belt and Road" Sustainable Development Forum and the International Academic Theory Seminar on Modeling Carbon Neutrality Targets were successfully held at the College of Economics and Management, Harbin Engineering University (HEU).

Experts from institutions such as Moscow State University, St. Petersburg State University of Electronic Engineering, the Economic Research Institute of the Ural Branch of the Russian Academy of Sciences, Far East National Transportation University, Post Baikal State University, the Chinese Academy of Sciences, and Northeast Petroleum University attended the event. Key HEU representatives, including DING Xin, Deputy Director of the International Exchange and Cooperation Department, and LI Wanhong, Vice Dean of the College of Economics and Management, were present. LIU Tiansen, Assistant Dean of the College of Economics and Management, chaired the seminar.

DING Xin presented an overview of HEU's international development efforts, emphasizing the university’s commitment to global exchange and cooperation. He highlighted the significance of the "Harbin Engineering University Globalization Development Strategy Action Plan (2024-2026)," which was launched last year. This plan seeks to expand HEU’s global network of partners and foster deeper collaboration with Russian universities in areas such as talent recruitment, scientific research, and education.

LI Wanhong outlined the School’s overall development and its strategic focus on international growth, including plans for international talent recruitment. She underscored the importance of international collaboration and expressed the College’s desire to explore innovative cooperation models with Russian universities in the future.

Experts at the Forum delivered a series of keynote speeches, sharing insights on sustainable development and carbon neutrality.

Following the seminar, the School of Economics and Management at HEU signed a cooperation agreement with the School of Innovation Design and Technology Entrepreneurship at St. Petersburg State University of Electronic Engineering.

Additionally, the Green Technology Management and Technology Entrepreneurship Research Team at HEU's School of Economics and Management entered into agreements with the Network Economics Research Center at Moscow State University’s School of Economics, and the BRICS Economic and Education Research Laboratory at the same institution.

This Forum marks a significant milestone for the School in promoting high-level international exchanges and reinforcing cooperation with Russia. It strengthens the global perspective of both faculty and students and lays the groundwork for building a world-class educational platform. The School plans to leverage these new partnerships to further advance its internationalization efforts in talent development and academic collaboration.
