In an effort to broaden the global perspectives of students and raise awareness about internationalization, the School of Economics and Management, in collaboration with the Qiushi Academy, organized a lecture series focused on international development. On the evening of March 18, 2024, Mr. NIU Tongli from the International Exchange and Cooperation Office and Ms. Rona, Program Director at the University of Strathclyde in the UK, delivered a special lecture on international development and a presentation on the university's international programs, respectively. Over 50 students from the undergraduate, master's, and doctoral programs attended the event. The exchange was moderated by Associate Professor LIU Tiansen, Assistant Dean of the School of Economics and Management.

Associate Professor LIU Tiansen opened the event by extending a warm welcome and expressing his gratitude to the guest speakers. He also highlighted the importance of internationalization for the school's development and its impact on students. Mr. NIU Tongli then delivered a lecture titled "Fly Towards a Brighter Future and Embrace the World: Discover a Better Self through International Exchanges," in which he discussed the university's global development strategy. He elaborated on the significance of internationalization, pathways for personal growth, and the support systems available for students. Mr. NIU emphasized how international experiences play a pivotal role in long-term personal and professional development, urging students to cultivate an international mindset and consider their global development plans while aligning with the university's international strategy.

Next, Ms. Rona introduced the University of Strathclyde, sharing its history, strengths, and academic offerings. She provided an overview of the Strathclyde Business School, highlighting its status as one of Europe's largest business schools and its prestigious "triple accreditation" from EQUIS, AMBA, and AACSB—an honor it was the first in Scotland to achieve. Ms. Rona also outlined the university's international programs, including the "2+2" undergraduate exchange program, the "4+1" undergraduate-to-postgraduate program, and the "1+1+1" joint master's program. Additionally, she discussed short-term exchange options, such as summer camps and semester-long credit exchange programs, as well as the scholarships available to support students' studies.

To conclude the session, Associate Professor Liu summarized the key points presented by the guest speakers. Drawing from his personal experience as a recipient of the China Scholarship Council (CSC) program, he encouraged students to adopt a global perspective and take full advantage of the university's growing internationalization efforts. Liu emphasized the importance of staying informed about international opportunities and using these resources to enhance their competitive edge in the global job market. He also noted that the School of Economics and Management would continue to organize a series of international outreach activities to support the international development of both faculty and students.
