On July 9th, the 9th "Xinghai Forum" Sub-forum for young scholars from both home and abroad was successfully hosted by the School of Economics and Management. The event was held in a hybrid format, combining both online and offline participation. Key attendees included CHEN Heng, Dean of the School of Economics and Management; YU Yunliang, Party Secretary; YANG Ximiao, Deputy Party Secretary; HU Yuzhen, Vice Dean; WANG Jun, Vice Dean; LI Wanhong, Vice Dean; LIU Tiansen, Assistant Dean; and PAN Wei, Assistant Dean, along with directors of academic organizations, Party branch secretaries, team leaders, and outstanding young faculty representatives.
Sixty-eight doctoral candidates from prestigious institutions worldwide participated, including the University of Oxford, University of Cambridge, University of Bath, Ghent University (Belgium), Nanyang Technological University (Singapore), Yeungnam University (South Korea), University of Macau, Tsinghua University, Harbin Institute of Technology, and Northeastern University. Of these, 33 doctoral candidates attended in person, delivering academic reports and engaging in scholarly discussions. The opening ceremony was presided over by Party Secretary YU Yunliang, and the individual sub-forums were moderated by the Party branch secretaries from each academic organization.
CHEN Heng, Dean of the School, delivered a keynote speech, offering a comprehensive introduction to the history, current status, faculty, research endeavors, talent development programs, and international collaborations of the school. He emphasized the institution's commitment to attracting exceptional talents, particularly leaders, young scholars, and innovative postdoctoral researchers. Dean Chen highlighted the school’s recent implementation of a talent-driven strategy, the launch of the "Implementation Plan for High-quality Development of the Talent Team," and its ongoing efforts to recruit and cultivate outstanding young talents from both domestic and international pools. He extended a warm invitation to distinguished scholars worldwide to join the School of Economics and Management and contribute to national defense modernization and the country’s economic and social development. He concluded with an optimistic note: “The success of the future awaits your arrival!”
YU Yunliang, Party Secretary of the School, stressed the school's unwavering commitment to implementing a new era talent-driven strategy. He reaffirmed the belief that talent is the most valuable resource, serving as the cornerstone and strategic support for the school's overall growth. He outlined the school’s dedication to enhancing its talent cultivation capabilities, building a strong faculty team, and fostering scientific and technological innovation. These efforts, he noted, are crucial for achieving the school’s vision of accelerated, high-quality development. YU Yunliang expressed a heartfelt hope that the forum would deepen both domestic and international scholars' understanding of the school, promote communication and collaboration, and encourage talented individuals to join the School of Economics and Management to contribute to building a maritime power and revitalizing the province.
Following the opening ceremony, 33 scholars from countries including the UK, Singapore, South Korea, Belgium, Hong Kong, and Macau delivered insightful academic presentations across four sub-forums. The scholars engaged in enriching exchanges and discussions with attending guests, including leaders of the academic organizations.
The successful organization of this sub-forum has not only strengthened the communication and collaboration between the School of Economics and Management and young scholars worldwide but has also further enhanced the school’s academic influence and reputation. The event laid a solid foundation for the future development of the school’s talent pool. Moving forward, the School of Economics and Management will continue to uphold its talent-driven development strategy, optimize talent recruitment and cultivation mechanisms, and offer a broader platform for young scholars' development. With the collective efforts of faculty and students, the School of Economics and Management is poised for an even more brilliant future.
