On the morning of January 6^th, 2024, the first plenary meeting of the Academic Committee and the unveiling ceremony for the Key Laboratory of Big Data and Business Intelligence Technology, established by the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology, took place at the Qihang Center, Harbin Engineering University (HEU). The event was attended by several prominent figures, including TANG Lixin, academician of the Chinese Academy of Engineering and Vice President of Northeastern University, as well as academic committee members such as JIANG Cuiqing, LIU Qingfu, LV Xin, SONG Shiji, WU Junjie, WANG Zhen, YU Le’an, BAO Zhangjing, HE Yan, LIU Shangwen, REN Mutong, REN Yi, WANG Nuanchen, YU Zhiwen, and HEU representatives, including Vice President SU Yi, Head of the Postgraduate Work Department, CHEN Heng, Dean of the School of Economics and Management, and YU Yunliang, Secretary of the Party Committee of the School of Economics and Management. The meeting was chaired by YIN Hang, Assistant President of HEU.

The event began with YIN Hang announcing the list of members for the first Academic Committee. YU Zhiwen then presented appointment letters to each member. Following this, TANG Lixin and YU Zhiwen jointly unveiled the plaque marking the official establishment of the Key Laboratory of Big Data and Business Intelligence Technology.

During the unveiling ceremony, YU Zhiwen delivered a welcome address on behalf of the university. He expressed his sincere gratitude to the experts of the Academic Committee and all partnering institutions for their long-term support. He emphasized that the committee’s insights would be invaluable in guiding the laboratory's development. He also noted that the formation of the Academic Committee would serve as a pivotal opportunity for HEU to define the laboratory's strategic direction, operational mechanisms, and long-term goals, further strengthening collaborations with universities, research institutions, and enterprises to foster innovation, transformation, and high-quality development.

Following the unveiling, the first plenary meeting of the Academic Committee was convened, chaired by Academician TANG Lixin, the committee’s Director. The meeting included the review and adoption of the "Articles of Association of the Academic Committee of the Key Laboratory of Big Data and Business Intelligence Technology." CHEN Heng, Dean of the School of Economics and Management, and ZHU Jianxin, Executive Director of the laboratory, provided detailed reports on the overall situation at HEU, the progress of the School of Economics and Management, and the laboratory's development. The committee discussed key topics such as research priorities, talent development, and the laboratory's future growth strategy, offering constructive suggestions for improvement.

In his concluding remarks, Academician TANG Lixin acknowledged the laboratory’s achievements and shared three key recommendations for its future development: First, research efforts should be more focused; second, the laboratory should seize current opportunities and align its work with emerging trends; and third, there should be closer integration with the university’s and school’s strengths to accelerate and enhance the laboratory’s progress.
