The 13th China Forum of Future-oriented Technology Analysis was Organized by School of Economics and Management

The 13th China Forum of Future-Oriented Technology Analysis, hosted by the Emerging Technology Future Analysis and Management Professional Committee of the China Institute of Business Administration and organized by the School of Economics and Management at Harbin Engineering University, was successfully held from September 15thto 17th, 2023.The theme of this forum was “Future-oriented Technology and Industry Analysis in the Era of Intelligent Environment: New Themes, New Thinking, New Methods”. Over 300 experts and scholars from more than 60 universities and research institutes, including Tsinghua University, Chinese Academy of Sciences University, and Harbin Institute of Technology, participated in the forum. This forum received support from academic journals such asChinese Soft Science,Studies in Science of Science,Science Research Management,Journal of Management Science,Tsinghua Business Review,Management of Innovation and Entrepreneurship,Science of Science and Management of S.&.T.,Science & Technology Progress and Policy, Journal of Science and Technology Management,IEEE Transactions on Engineering Management, andInnovation Science and Technology, as well as cooperation support from the China Soft Science Research Association andChina Soft Sciencemagazine.

On the evening of September 15th, the Emerging Technology Future Analysis and Management Professional Committee of the China Institute of Business Administration held an exclusive directorate expansion meeting. The meeting was presided by Professor HUANG Lucheng, the esteemed president of the committee.

The forum’s opening ceremony was held on the morning of September 16th, with the Professor CHEN Heng, the dean of the School of Economics and Management at Harbin Engineering University, presiding over the ceremony.

During the opening ceremony, Professor GAO Wannin, the Deputy Secretary of the Party Committee at Harbin Engineering University, delivered a welcoming speech. He expressed that Harbin Engineering University is a prestigious university with a glorious military industrial tradition, profound cultural heritage, and distinct characteristics in education. During President Xi Jinping’s visit to the university, he fully recognized 70 years of educational achievements of the university in the past 70 years. In recent years, the university has attached great importance to the development of “new liberal arts” disciplines. The convening of this forum will undoubtedly promote the development and application of future-oriented technology and industry, and contribute to social progress and advancement.

Professor HUANG Sujian, the President of the China Institute of Business Administration, stated that in an era of accelerating scientific and technological revolution and industrial transformation, digital intelligence has become a crucial engine driving social progress, economic growth, ecological conservation, and improvement of people’s livelihoods. The theme of this forum, closely tied to the pulse of the times, aligned with national strategies, and in tune with the needs of the people, provides new ideas and approaches for addressing global challenges and achieving sustainable development.

During his speech, Professor HUANG Lucheng, the president of the Emerging Technology Future Analysis and Management Professional Committee of the China Institute of Business Administration, expressed that the theme of this forum aligns with the development background of the times and the requirements of the new era. He hoped that through this forum, participants would stimulate thoughts, enhance collaboration, promote academic prosperity, and actively explore new methods and pathways, thereby contributing wisdom to the construction of innovative theories with Chinese characteristics.

After the opening ceremony, seven experts delivered keynote speeches at the conference. HUANG Qunhui, Director of the Institute of Economics at the Chinese Academy of Social Sciences, Dean of the School of Economics, Vice President and Chairman of the China Institute of Business Administration, and Editor-in-Chief ofEconomic ResearchJournalandEconomic Perspectives, gave a keynote speech on “The ‘Five Dimensions’ of Modern Industrial System in China”; Professor MU Rongping, former Dean of the School of Public Policy and Management at the University of Chinese Academy of Sciences, Chairman of the China Association for Science of Science and S&T Policy, and Editor-in-Chief ofScience Research Management, delivered a keynote speech on “Thinking about Innovation and Entrepreneurship Leading Future Industrial Development Policies”; LIU Xielin, from the School of Economics and Management at the University of Chinese Academy of Sciences and Editor-in-Chief ofScience of Science and Management of S.& T., presented a keynote speech on “Risk, Prediction, and Management of Disruptive Innovation—Starting with ASML”; YU Bo from the School of Economics and Management at Harbin Institute of Technology delivered a keynote speech on “The Impact of High-tech Industry Agglomeration on Regional Innovation Capacity”; Researcher ZHANG Shiyun, Secretary and Director of the Technology Intelligence Research Institute of Beijing Academy of Science and Technology, gave a keynote speech on “Future Industrial Development Strategies and Pathways”; Researcher JIA Pinrong, Director of the High-quality Development Research Center of Beijing Academy of Science and Technology, presented a keynote speech on “Analysis of the Significance and Evaluation of High-end Industries Development in Beijing”; Professor CHEN Heng, Dean of the School of Economics and Management at Harbin Engineering University, gave a keynote speech on “Forward-thinking Considerations on Emerging Technology Research for Future Industrial Anticipation”. The session of keynote speeches was co-chaired by Professor HUANG Lucheng, President of the Emerging Technology Future Analysis and Management Professional Committee of the China Institute of Business Administration, and Professor SU Yi, Minister of Graduate Affairs at Harbin Engineering University.

On the afternoon of September 16th, a parallel forum was held and the attendees were divided into four groups for lively sharing and communication. Four teams of experts provided detailed and exciting comments on the papers presented in their respective groups.

After the parallel forums, a summary conference was held. Firstly, the four moderators of the parallel forums gave a summary report on their respective groups, followed by a presentation from the next host organization. Finally, HUANG Lucheng, President of the Emerging Technology Future Analysis and Management Professional Committee of the China Institute of Business Administration, gave a summary of the conference and presented awards to the winners of the conference’s excellent paper award. The closing ceremony of the conference was hosted by Professor WU Weiwei from the School of Economics and Management at Harbin Institute of Technology.

On the morning of September 17th, the participating guests and scholars visited the Harbin Engineering University PLA Military Engineering Institute Museum and the Ship Museum. After that, they proceeded to conduct an investigation and research at the Harbin Electric Machinery Co., Ltd.

The 13th China Forum of Future-oriented Technology Analysis concluded successfully. This forum had a strong academic atmosphere and was a grand event where renowned scholars gathered and presented fascinating ideas. It was a collaborative effort involving multiple parties and a platform for exchanging thoughts and sparking intellectual discussions. The forum injected new momentum and provided fresh insights into the development of future-oriented technology and industry analysis in the era of digital intelligence.
