On July 13^th, the School of Economics and Management of Harbin Engineering University successfully held the 8^th Xinghai Forum for young scholars at home and abroad, combining online and offline formats. CHEN Heng, the dean of the School of Economics and Management, SU Yi, the secretary of the Party Committee, YANG Ximiao, the deputy secretary of the Party Committee, WANG Jun and LI Wanhong, the associate deans, HU Yuzhen, the assistant to the dean, as well as the directors of the grassroots academic organizations, the deputy directors, and the Party branch secretaries, the heads of disciplinary majors, team leaders, representatives of outstanding young teachers, talent recruitment officers, and heads of functional departments attended the forum. A total of 35 young scholars from home and abroad participated in the forum and presented their academic reports. The opening ceremony was hosted by Secretary SU Yi, and each sub-forum was chaired by the Party branch secretaries of the grassroots academic organizations.

Dean CHEN Heng delivered a keynote speech. He introduced the situation of the school and its talent recruitment policies, providing detailed information on the development history, basic situation, faculty strength, scientific research, talent cultivation, and international exchanges of the school. Dean CHEN Heng also provided a detailed interpretation of the conditions, benefits, and guarantees for various types of talents, such as outstanding leading talents, young leading talents, outstanding young teachers, and postdoctoral innovation talents introduced by the college. Dean CHEN Heng pointed out that in recent years, the school has vigorously implemented the strategy of strengthening the institute with talents, issued policy documents such as the “Implementation Plan for High-quality Development of Talent Team in the College of Economics and Management”, and increased efforts in talent introduction and cultivation, aiming to attract outstanding young teachers from home and abroad to join the School of Economics and Management and contribute to the construction of national defense modernization and the development of the national economy and society. Professor SU Yi, the Party Secretary of the school, stated in his speech that in order to implement the strategy of strengthening the country with talents, the Party Committee of the school has always regarded talent resources as the primary resource. After the opening ceremony, the heads of disciplinary majors, representatives of outstanding young teachers, and the 35 young scholars from home and abroad gave wonderful academic presentations in four sub-venues. The heads of grassroots academic organizations and Party branch secretaries engaged in in-depth academic exchanges and discussions with the young scholars.

The 8^th “Xinghai Forum” for young scholars at home and abroad held by the School of Economics and Management of Harbin Engineering University received strong support from domestic and foreign doctoral students. Participants expressed that they gained valuable insights from the forum, and the sub-forum was a complete success. Through this sub-forum, the school established connections with nearly 40 outstanding young scholars from home and abroad, and will continue its efforts in talent recruitment in the next phase.
