Doctoral Education Exchange Meeting with the School of Economics and Management, Northeast Normal University

To continuously enhance the quality of doctoral education and learn from exemplary practices at peer institutions, the School of Economics and Management hosted an exchange meeting with the School of Economics and Management at Northeast Normal University on April 21, 2025. The two schools engaged in in-depth discussions on doctoral admissions policies, training frameworks, faculty development, and graduate employment outcomes. Participants from Northeast Normal University included LI Yanming, Deputy Party Secretary and Vice Dean, and LI Yuting, Vice Dean. Representing our school were YANG Ximiao, Deputy Party Secretary; LIU Tiansen, Vice Dean and Secretary of the Business Administration Party Branch; HAN Wei, Director of Student Affairs; and LIANG Yu from the Academic Affairs Office.

Professor LIU Tiansen delivered a comprehensive introduction to our school’s development, including faculty recruitment, teaching and research accomplishments, professional degree programs, and international collaborations. He highlighted the school’s doctoral training approach and outlined future development plans. Professor Liu expressed a desire to establish deeper cooperation in areas such as Party-building initiatives, doctoral training, and the cultivation of early-career faculty, to improve doctoral education outcomes and advance teaching and research.

Deputy Party Secretary YANG Ximiao presented a detailed analysis of doctoral graduate employment and shared strategies for strengthening industry-university collaboration. He emphasized the importance of expanding career pathways, diversifying employment options for PhD graduates, and aligning educational outcomes with market needs to support graduates in reaching their full potential.

HAN Wei offered further insights into recent doctoral employment outcomes and job placements. He reaffirmed the school’s commitment to developing top-tier talent in strategically important fields. By conducting extensive outreach and fostering relationships with employers, the school encourages doctoral students to gain a deep understanding of industry and regional demands and to convert their research strengths into professional capabilities.

The meeting concluded with a joint discussion on key issues in high-quality doctoral education. Both sides agreed to use this exchange as a foundation for deeper future collaboration. Through the sharing of experiences, mutual understanding, and joint exploration of innovative models, both institutions aim to further the development of high-level talent and elevate the standards of doctoral education.
