The undergraduate and graduate matriculation ceremonies were presided over by YANG Ximiao and LIU Tiansen respectively.

Undergraduate representative TONG Duoer expressed that, as members of the HEU School of Economics and Management community, students should set clear development goals, be bold in exploration and innovation, strive for comprehensive personal growth, and actively engage in practice. She encouraged her peers to live up to their youth, forge ahead with determination, and contribute their energy to the development of the university and the school.

Graduate representative WANG Qi shared her honor and pride in joining the school for advanced studies. She stated that she would bear in mind General Secretary Xi Jinping’s earnest expectations for young people, inherit the fine traditions of the Harbin Institute of Military Engineering—“loyalty, perseverance, innovation, and excellence”—closely align academic pursuits with national strategic needs, and contribute to the rejuvenation of the nation.

Teacher FU Dan from the Department of Business Administration, speaking on behalf of undergraduate class teachers, drew from her rich teaching and research experience to encourage students to establish correct values, integrate personal ideals with national development, cherish their time in university, face challenges bravely, and cultivate independent thinking and critical awareness. She called on students to become diligent and enterprising HEU economics and management professionals.

Teacher HU Fanshuai, also from the Department of Business Administration, spoke on behalf of graduate class teachers. He shared insights from his academic journey, urging students to maintain curiosity and a desire for knowledge, pursue diverse growth paths, and develop a strong sense of responsibility and patriotism, striving to become visionary talents of the new era.

Teacher ZHU Jianxin, Director of the Department of Management Engineering, spoke on behalf of graduate supervisors. Drawing on the development of artificial intelligence, he elaborated on the school’s strategy for cultivating top-tier innovative talents. He encouraged students to build solid academic foundations, develop systematic and problem-solving thinking, strengthen national awareness, and integrate personal aspirations into the cause of national rejuvenation—becoming upright, courageous, and dedicated young scholars of the new era.

Subsequently, LIU Tiansen conducted a session on academic integrity. Through analysis of typical cases, he emphasized key principles of research ethics and the importance of maintaining integrity in scientific inquiry, urging students to fasten the “first button” of academic integrity and consciously contribute to a clean and upright academic environment.

In conclusion, Dean CHEN Heng extended a warm welcome to the 2025 freshmen and delivered the First Lesson of the New Semester, titled “Our Era and Journey.” He introduced the school’s development history, faculty achievements, research accomplishments, talent cultivation practices, and international collaborations. He encouraged students to inherit the spirit of the Harbin Institute of Military Engineering, ground themselves in Chinese practice, climb the peaks of scientific research, and align personal ideals with national strategies.

He expressed hope that all 2025 freshmen will understand the changes of the times with systematic thinking, respond to the nation’s call with practical action, and combine the rigor of engineering science with the humanistic warmth of the social sciences. In the great tide of building a maritime power and advancing new industrialization, HEU’s economics and management students are expected to demonstrate their unique wisdom and vision and write a brilliant chapter worthy of the times.
